How to enjoy the meat you love on a Budget!
Happy Friday!
MEAT PRICES vs. Insanity! I can honestly say I’m not sure which is worse.
With our family of four on One income we have to make our Meal Budget work, and here is how I do it!
SALES!
I make sure to watch ALL grocery stores ads for Sales on meat! And with the help of my AMAZING neighbor I make sure to find the best prices I can!
Example, Last week at KROGER I bought Ground Beef for 80%/20% for 2.83 a pound! it was almost 44% off! I made sure to stock up! I got enough to last almost a MONTH, I processed it and packaged it in 1lb portions and put it in our chest freezer for later!
I also watch the coupons in the APP. Kroger had a sale on TYSON chicken that was less than $1.50 a LB. I made sure to stock up on that as well!
CLEARENCE!
You cant beat this if you have a Deep Freezer!
Please note I ALWAYS freeze my clearance meat that night! if not it goes bad!
When I buy my Clearance meat I process/trim it that day and then freeze it before I go to bed, I make sure to put a date on it and I mark it with an CX to remind myself that it was clearance and that I have to use as soon as it’s thawed.
Most of the time I am getting the meat at least 50% off if not more! This allows us a little more wiggle room with that we are eating. I honestly cant tell you the last time I payed full price for Steaks or Salmon.
AMAZING side note: Watch for clearance crab meat in a can! We got lucky one day and managed to get 7 1lb cans of crab meat for 75% off, and it still had a year until it expired!! We ate well the next few months after that!
SO…
While freezing everything isn’t always an option I make sure to save as much as I can so that we can still enjoy the little things!
Here is a link to the reusable freezer bags that I use!
ALSO
Here is a link to the Vacuum sealer that we love and we use for steaks and fish! Steaks and fish don’t last long in baggies.
